Civil Engineer - Transportation - Dublin
Job Description
In this role you will act as the Public Transport Stop Officer and will be responsible for working across several different departments in the National Transport Authority to coordinate the implementation of a programme for:
Provision of enhanced bus stop infrastructure (in particular stop poles and shelters), and
The provision of travel information at stops and stations, initially focussing on bus stops and shelters
The Public Transport Stop Officer will be part of a small in-house team of NTA, or consultant staff, managed by the Public Transport Stop Manager, and will work in developing and progressing the delivery of the public transport stop enhancement programme nationwide.
The Public Transport Stop Officer will report to the Authority’s Public Transport Stop Manager.
The Public Transport Stop Officer shall assist the Public Transport Stop Manager in coordinating the development and monitoring the implementation of the Authority’s projects and programmes for the provision and maintenance of new and existing bus stop infrastructure and of public transport information at all bus stops, Luas stops and rail stations.
The Public Transport Stop Officer may be responsible some or all of the following:
Working with the Public Transport Stop Manager to establish and coordinate the delivery of a programme for new or upgraded bus stop/shelter infrastructure and the provision of customer information at bus stops
Working with the Public Transport Stop Manager, the Authority’s Customer Experience team and other Authority staff to develop and implement guidelines and standards for bus stop/shelter infrastructure and customer information
Working with the Public Transport Stop Manager and other Authority staff to support projects and programmes including bus network redesigns
Identifying needs for new or upgraded bus stop/shelter infrastructure in a specified area, including changes of locations, and preparing reports for the Authority identifying priorities for improvement
Procuring design work for new or relocated bus stop/shelter infrastructure
Managing the delivery of stop infrastructure designs, and internal and local authority or land-owner design approvals as required
Liaising with the Public Transport Stop Manager, and other Authority, consultant or bus operator staff in relation to delivery of bus stop designs, infrastructure supply and installation to an agreed programme
Coordinating with Authority’s public transport contract managers and Technology Services Group as required to ensure the timely provision of customer information at new or existing stops and shelters
Managing one or more of the Stop Infrastructure Service Level Agreements that the Authority has in place with bus operators
monitoring the implementation of Authority or operator programmes for the delivery of new bus stop/shelter infrastructure, the maintenance of existing TFI bus stop infrastructure, and the provision of travel information, including real time information, at all bus stops and reporting on progress to internal NTA stakeholders
In conjunction with Irish Rail, coordinating, developing and monitoring the implementation of a programme for the provision of travel information at all rail stations, including the provision of panels for the display of travel information as required
Other activities in relation to the provision or maintenance of public transport stop infrastructure, or passenger information at stops or stations that the Authority may require from time to time.
Requirements
BS in Civil / Structural Engineering
Knowledge of the application of CAD,Revit and/or Navis software
Complete understanding of the skills and experience required to perform engineering and design functions in an EPC environment
Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel, and Mail
Good listening, writing, communications and conflict resolution skills
Package
12+month contract role,
€30 - €45 per hour
