Design Coordinator - Tier 1 Construction Contractor - Dublin
Our client is a D&B main contractor working on a broad range of building projects in the healthcare, education, industry, construction and leisure industries in the UK & Irish markets.
In Conjunction with the Senior Site Engineer, the setting out of the project with emphasis on the co-ordination of architectural and engineering information.
The detailed co-ordination of the structural elements to include:
Checking all reinforcing bar bending schedules against the structural engineer’s drawings.
Ensure that any and all structural steel and / or pre-cast concrete elements are detailed and manufactured in accordance with the structural engineer’s drawings and specifications and fully co-ordinated with relevant Architectural & MEP requirements.
Co-ordinating envelope packages such as curtain-walling, cladding and, roofing.
In conjunction with the Senior Engineer, co-ordinating utilities and services from and between the mechanical and electrical engineers and the various utility providers.
Co-ordination of shop drawings between the sub-contractors, the design team and other relevant sub-contractors,
ensuring compliance with design intent, design details, performance specification and relevant sections of the Building Regulations.
In conjunction with the Project Manager / Site Manager, prepare and maintain the schedule of information requirements. In accordance with the contract programme forward same to the architect and/or engineer as appropriate. Monitor the Information Schedule regularly and advise the Project Manager / Site Manager of progress and problems arising.
Co-ordinate and manage the technical submittal process for all elements / components required to construct the project,
to include the preparation and maintenance of a monitoring system that tracks the status of technical submittals in line with the contract programme. Monitor the technical submittal tracking document regularly and advise the Project Manager of progress and problems arising.
Prepare and maintain a procurement tracking schedule based on approved technical submittals and approval of costs where relevant in line with the contract programme. Monitor the procurement tracking schedule regularly and advise the Project Manager of progress and problems arising.
Deal promptly with all queries raised during the course of the contract. Ensure that all queries are recorded in a proper and efficient manner.
Record all verbal instructions received from the architect and / or engineer and maintain a “Confirmation of Instructions” schedule.
Ensure the timeous distribution of drawings and information to sub-contractors.
Arrange for the submission of samples through the “Benchmarking” system for approval by the design team, ensuring that all relevant correspondence relating to the submission, its approval and / or rejection are recorded accordingly in W/S.
When required, attend any or all, record when requested and circulate the minutes of the following meetings:
The Pre-construction Meeting.
Client / Design Team Meetings.
When required, assist the Project Manager / Site Manager in the production of weekly and short-term programmes.
In conjunction with the Project Manager / Site Manager ensure that “Builder’s Work” and co-ordinated mechanical and electrical services drawings are prepared in good time by the services contractors. Circulate to the appropriate design team members for comment / approval.
Where the project is being designed under BIM protocols, the Design Co-ordinator will also assume role of Project
Information Manager with responsibilities and duties as outlined in section
In projects where LEED or BREAM certification is being targeted, the Design Co-Ordinator shall also be responsible for collating the relevant documentation to substantiate compliance with relevant LEED / BREAM criteria and shall be included as part of the technical submittals. Monitor the LEED / BREAM tracking documents to ensure compliance with the relevant targets.
Minimum 15 years experience in a similar role
Degree in Construction/Engineering/Architecture or relevant industry experience.
Knowledge of Building Regulations in Ireland and the UK would be an advantage
Previous experience working for a main contractor is desirable
Salary €70k - €80k based on relevant experience and qualifications
