Director - Buildings & Structures - Ireland

Job Description

Our client is a multi-disciplined international engineering consultancy, currently undergoing rapid growth in Ireland.

We are currently recruiting Director(s) within our Building & Structures team.

This role can be based in Cork, Dublin or Galway.

The successful candidate(s) will be joining a recognised leader in the delivery of consultancy services in Ireland and the UK

Manage project portfolios, budgets and meet agreed targets

Implement best practices and comply with all internal systems

Provide leadership in setting and implementing design (technical) and quality compliance

Build and maintain personal, unit and team skills

Extensive knowledge of design codes, specifications, legislation and best practices

A thorough understanding of professional appointments, project bidding, contractual arrangements, procurement and project management

Demonstrate proven knowledge and experience of working with/to accredited Integrated Management Systems & Standards including quality, environment, health-and-safety, data security, risk, BIM etc.

Excellent knowledge & experience of full project delivery cycle including feasibility, planning, statutory consents, design, procurement, contract administration & construction-delivery support.

Ability to deal with clients, including ability to sell, resolve problems with clients, generate new work and satisfy client requirements

Excellent people management skills including management of multi-disciplinary design teams with 3rd-party sub-consultant inputs.

Possess excellent communication abilities, both written and oral

Demonstrated inter-personal skills that encourage team working and staff retention; be capable of guiding the development of the Building & Structures team in order to maintain a prominent position in the industry and to recognise and respond to the changing needs of the industry

Support group policies and strategies with a proven ability of implementation

Strong IT MS Office skills and good working knowledge of BIM standards, processes and implementation.

Good understanding of industry standard engineering design software / modelling tools, such as Revit, Robot, Masterseries, Tekla-Tedds, Bluebeam and similar.

Requirements

Chartered Structural Engineer with more than 20 years’ experience preferably gained in a Consulting Engineering practice(s), in Ireland

Degree qualified (minimum Level 8)

Experience in undertaking senior design roles across a broad spectrum of structural, commercial and industrial projects including State funded, private sector, Commercial and Industrial

Significant experience in client interfaces and contract management with strong client links

Previous responsibility for the Technical and Commercial Management of projects including the Budgeting and assignment of Resources within fee and profitability limitations

Demonstrated team leadership experience with capabilities to guide the development of the team
