Ecologist - Engineering Consultancy - Ireland
Our client is a leading Irish multidisciplinary Engineering and Project Management Consultancy with operations nationwide.
They work on the country’s most challenging projects to deliver Ireland’s infrastructure.
This role can be based in Cork, Dublin, Galway
The Ecologist role will be to assist the Senior Ecologist taking on and independently undertaking a wide range of project tasks.
You will undertake ecological surveys (Including habitat protected species, Invasive Species), mitigation design and construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring.
You will be responsible for undertaking Ecological Impact Assessment Reports, Appropriate Assessment Screenings and Natural Impact Statements.
You’ll be responsible for the management of project work, particularly your own technical assessments and reporting outputs, together with establishing and maintaining ongoing client relationships.
Candidates will have four or more years’ experience working in a consultancy / regulatory role in the environmental assessment field.
A proven track record of working on Environmental Impact Assessment and Appropriate Assessment processes is essential. Membership of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or similar is desirable.
A postgraduate qualification (MSc) in a relevant biological/ environmental science subject with an ecological component which includes practical experience;
Degree in Ecology or a related
Excellent field skills and a keen interest and understanding of Irish wildlife;
Demonstrated field survey experience in ecology e.g. habitat classification (Fossitt), badger, otter, bat, bird and invasive species surveys;
Familiar with relevant Irish and European legislation e.g. Habitats Directive, Birds Directive, EIA Directive, and transposing Irish Regulations;
Knowledge of Appropriate Assessment as per Article 6 of the Habitats Directive;
Excellent report writing skills;
Excellent data processing skills;
Experienced in using GIS/ mapping systems;
A hard working and highly motivated individual - client focused with good interpersonal skills and team approach;
Full clean driving licence and access to their own vehicle; and
Excellent communication skills with the ability to record data efficiently and methodically.
Salary €45k - €55k based experience, negotiable for the right candidates.
