Electrical Design Engineer - Cork

Job Description

Our client is an international engineering practice, with multiple offices in Ireland. 

They provide cost management services for a wide range of projects, including buildings, civil engineering, industrial infrastructure and major highway projects.  

The successful candidate will be involved in a diverse and challenging range of design projects including life sciences, data centres, commercial, industrial and retail commissions. 

Project Planning and Management

Preparation of design and contract documentation and specifications

Designing and reviewing design work of intermediate and junior engineers

Design of systems including but not limited to maximum demand calculations, cable sizing, lighting, emergency lighitng, fire alarm systems, ICT systems, security systems and vertical transport

Coordination of work with all members of design teams (architect, engineers of all disciplines, QS etc.)

Ensuring that all designs and documents are prepared to the highest standards

Estimating and Cost Control on projects

Compiling project reports

Conceptual design studies and reports

Mentoring and development of junior and intermediate engineers in the group

Requirements

Degree qualified or equivalent in Electrical Services engineering or Electrical Engineering. 

3 years post-qualification experience, most of which will be in design gained within a consultancy environment. 

Experience in a wide range of projects . 

Proven team player. 

Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work. 

Ability to meet strict deadlines 

Good Report writing skills. 

Experience in design of low voltage and medium voltage power networks. 

Technically excellent with an in-depth knowledge of relevant electrical, fire alarm and emergency lighting standards and regulations. 

Strong lighting design skills. 

Competent in electrical design software such as Amtech and dialux. 

Revit experience would be an advantage. 

Willingness to travel on business trips to support projects. 

Highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges
