Operations Manager - Surveying - Cork

Our client offers a wide variety of surveying services which include Land Surveying, Measured Build Surveys, GPS and Laser Scanning, Hydrographical and Ground Penetrating Radar.


Job Description

This role will provide operational management and support for the company’s Cork region. 

The main responsibility of this role will be to ensure that the field teams deliver the projects efficiently, thus enabling project delivery to clients on time and on budget. 


Key Responsibilities

Project Management Tasks

Management and scheduling of all allocated projects

Have a clear knowledge of the contract, specification and scope of works

Management of survey scope in multidisciplinary projects and coordinating with relevant parties

Stakeholder engagement on technical/ field issues

Problem solving solutions to ensure deadlines and budgets are maintained, escalating where necessary

To have a strategic plan of action on site to efficiently execute the works

Validate the ability of survey crews on site

Job briefing of survey teams

Responding to issues from field personnel and channelling to the appropriate resources where necessary

Developing and maintaining increased efficiency within the field

Provide schedule and progress reports to Head of Department

Problem solving solutions to ensure deadlines and budgets are maintained, escalating where necessary

Implement quality procedures and protocols and modify if necessary

Ensure work is carried out to the highest quality standards

Ensure accuracy of all information that is reported on the project management system


Personnel Management responsibilities

Manage, develop and motivate staff team including surveyors, assistants and processors in conjunction with the management team

Provide adequate feedback to Head of Department for staff performance reviews.

Review and approve monthly expenses and issue to Head of Department for sign off.

 

Safety & Resources Management Responsibilities

Ensure employees have completed company induction and all necessary safety training required

Ensure company safety procedures are adhered to: PPE compliance, Vehicle checklists, SPA, etc.

Ensure all project specific safety documentation is in place and available to the survey team

Allocate vehicles and equipment to team members in line with company budgets and meet project requirements

Review any near misses or accidents to ensure learnings are implemented

 

Survey Sub-contractor Management

Work with management team to develop a panel of sub-contractors in line with our organisational strategy

Manage sub-contractor’s work on projects and ensure this meets with Clients standards and escalating any issues to the Commercial Manager

 

Commercial

Provide information for creation of quotes and tender submissions and prepare quotes when required

Responsible for hitting Cork KPI’s

Strive to seek and implement continuous efficiencies in our processes

Provide input for the creation of the annual budget

Provide feedback from survey teams to estimating/ sales team

 

Requirements

Geomatics education would be an asset, proven track of project management, experience in staff supervising

3-5 years post graduate experience working on surveying/ engineering related projects.

Task orientated, and results focused, aptitude for problem solving and highly driven

Excellent attention to detail

Commercial/business acumen

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Project management skills, Planning and organizing, Time and priority management

Strong safety ethic

Proficient in MS Office

Full clean driving licence
