Senior Marine Scientist - Marine EIA - Ireland

Job Description

Our client is a multi-disciplined international engineering consultancy, currently undergoing rapid growth in Ireland.

Their Environment team based in are looking to recruit a Senior Marine Scientist - Marine EIA expert with experience (7+ years) in working on marine impact assessment and marine licensing projects in Ireland and/or the UK. 

Locations available are Galway, Cork and Dublin and we offer hybrid working.

The position requires the ability to scope and plan coastal and marine surveys, interpret marine scientific data (ecological and sediments) and assess potential impacts from developments. 

A broad range of knowledge in the marine area is desirable.

You will become an essential participant in the environmental team, assisting in the delivery and management of projects for key public and private clients in Ireland. 

Requirements

MSc/ PhD (Level 9 or 10 on the NFQ) in Marine Science or a related science field

7+ years experience in marine ecology consultancy or similar

Experienced in preparing reports on EIA and AA of marine projects

Reviewing and synthesising data and reports

Working as part of multi-disciplinary teams.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Marine ecology (e.g. marine mammals, benthic communities) including habitat mapping

Knowledge of EU and Irish environmental law

The ability to work under ones’ own initiative

Project management skills

Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.)

Statistical analysis (multivariate) is desirable

Experience with ESRI GIS is desirable,

Excellent writing and verbal communication skills

Full, clean Irish or EU driving licence.
