Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Water - Co Kilkenny

Our client is one of Ireland’s leading Water and Wastewater Treatment Plants design & build Contractors.

You will work on a wide scope of Water and Wastewater Treatment projects across the Island of Ireland.

As part of this role you will form an integral part of the design and project delivery team with particular focus on coordination of design activities ,providing technical oversight and direction to our design engineers and approval of detailed design including mechanical equipment selection, hydraulic systems and engineering drawings.

Developing design solutions to technical problems, involving equipment selection and specifications, hydraulic design, plant layouts, P&IDs etc

Leading the relationship with our clients from initial concept, feasibility, detailed design, implementation to final delivery

Mentoring and coaching of design teams to establish the best value working design solutions to technical problems

Coordinating members of the design team to ensure the timely delivery of information and reviewing the work of other members of staff and providing assistance to their continued learning and development

Utilising our design templates and software to complete calculations and supporting the equipment selection process

Ensuring that all Design Documentation is in line with the requirements of the Project Quality Plan and project specific requirements

Ac as a subject matter expert on technical issues throughout the projects

Requirements

Level 7/8/9 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

At least 7 years experience in a similar role

Experience in the Water Industry

Previous experience in people management

Ability to work on own initiative and effectively manage & coordinate design

Practical site experience (Desirable)

Experience working with hydraulic design templates and software

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
