Senior Process Engineer - Biotech
Our Client is a leading global partner for architecture, engineering, construction and project management in the fields of Advanced Technology Facilities, the Life Science industries, Energy & Environmental Technologies, Mission Critical, Electronics and other High-Tech Infrastructures.
Their focus is on technically complex projects; from concept development to turnkey services.
The Senior Process Engineer will be the leading Chemical Engineer on the team, specialising in the design of Process Equipment, Process Support Equipment, and Utilities for life-science and biopharmaceutical facilities (e.g. WIFI systems, bioreactors, and CIP systems).
The Senior Engineer is expected to supervise a team of engineers on large projects, and mentor junior engineers.
The candidate will be required to have engineering expertise in the pharmaceutical/life science field.
Project history should include biopharmaceuticals and/or small molecule facilities.
Specialty chemical experience would be a plus.
The candidate should be well versed in FDA requirements and cGMP design.
This candidate’s credentials and experiences will be a strong selling point in the BD Team’s proposals.
Lead a team of Process Engineers and Designers on larger projects
Maintain and foster morale and culture within the discipline
Interact and coordinate with project management, vendors, clients, design members and fellow engineers to solve complex process engineering and piping issues
Support Business Development Activities as required
Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s), process and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s), data sheets, and develop/edit specifications for equipment
Develop calculations for mass balances, utility loads and equipment sizing etc.
Interact with piping and architectural groups to direct physical layout of systems
Coordinate process system interfaces with the mechanical group or other team members, and provide input to the civil, structural, electrical and I&C engineering teams
Verify that the design is consistent with industry-accepted practice, leading-edge technologies and special client-preferred features
Perform self QA/QC on deliverables, as well as on deliverables by other engineers.
Complete process engineering studies and reports
Participate in Services During Construction activities including reviewing RFI’s, submittals, responding to design change notices, issuing field change bulletins, attending site walk-throughs and issuing field observation reports, developing operational and functional acceptance tests, developing record drawings and producing other system documentation
Understand and work within the scope, schedule, deliverables, and man-hours budgeted for assigned tasks
Support, by active participation, corporate and discipline-specific procedures and policies
Regularly collaborate with global and US engineering counterparts with respect to technology advancements, lessons learned, and design techniques and calculations
Contribute to the development of the Process Knowledge Center
Attend self-improvement seminars and/or courses and Professional Society meetings in areas of focus as assigned by the Discipline Director
Perform technical and business presentations with clients and employees
Mentor junior engineers on basic engineering applications and principals
Assist in the selection and development of the platform process engineering staff
Maintain continuous positive relationships with staff, other disciplines and clients
Help foster continuous improvement throughout process department
Participate in Client interviews and proposal development within the platform
Chemical Engineering degree
10-15 years of process experience in the Life Sciences and Chemicals or related field
Excellent understanding of cGMP regulations
Experience in equipment layout, piping design and P&ID’s
Professional Engineering License(s) (optional)
Proficiency using Microsoft tools such as MS Word, Outlook , PowerPoint and Excel
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both written and verbal communications
Comfortable delivering both technical and marketing presentations
Willingness and ability for occasional travel to visit client/project sites
Excellent analytical skills including the ability to recognize and solve design problems
Excellent u nderstanding of engineering work processes and project execution
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines
Experience coordinating with other disciplines, designers, and engineers
