Mechanical Estimator - Cost Engineer - MEP Contractor - Waterford

Our client is a leading Mechanical Engineering Contractor working on large scale industrial buildings projects across Ireland and require mechanical estimators / cost engineers to join the team based in Waterford

Reporting to the Senior Estimator or the Estimating Manager and as an integral part of the estimating team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates in a timely manner. 

You will work on tenders for projects such as Pharmaceuticals, Food & Beverage, Data Centers, Semi-Conductor, Commercial, etc across Ireland and the UK.

Conduct in-dept reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications,schedules, etc

Preform accurate quantity take-offs and mark up measured drawings

Request, manage and evaluate supplier and sub-contractor quotations

Issue tender queries and RFIs

Prepare costed bill of quantities

Prepare tender reports, tender pricing schedules and other tender return documents

Advise on potential value engineering opportunities

Manage data base

Attend meetings and site visits are when required

Adhere to tender return deadlines

Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and wider project teams

Other related tasks as instructed

Requirements

Degree in either Mechanical, Process, Building Services Engineering or other related field

Previous mechanical cost estimating or design experience is desired

Strong computer skills especially in the use of MS Office

Strong understanding of mechanical & process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing and other mechanical building services systems

Good knowledge of different mechanical & process pipework materials

Strong attention to detail

Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, preform accurate take-offs, and prepare detailed BOQs

Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines

Must display excellent time management, communication, numerical, analytical and organisational skills

Problem solving skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities

Package

€45K-€80K - Competitive salary packages negotiable based on level of experience and qualifications

Some travel required to Limerick & Cork - ca3days per week.
