Principal EIA Consultant (Energy) - Multinational Engineering Consultancy

Our client is a leading global engineering and environmental consultancy delivering major energy transition, renewable energy, and infrastructure projects across Ireland.

The Principal EIA Consultant (Energy) is required to play a pivotal leadership role in shaping energy infrastructure and energy-transition projects, including renewable generation, grid/transmission infrastructure, energy storage, and interconnectors.

They will lead multi-disciplinary teams and specialist third-party consultants in coordinating and delivering high-quality Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) from early strategy through to planning and consenting stages.

Act as a trusted senior advisor to clients, regulatory authorities, and key project stakeholders, providing strategic planning and environmental guidance.

Provide technical quality assurance by reviewing and approving EIARs, ensuring full compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation and industry best practice.

Manage project finances, budgets, deliverables, and commercial performance across complex environmental workstreams.

Contribute to business growth through client engagement, strategic pursuits, and leading major environmental tender proposals.

Mentor, guide, and support the career development of junior consultants within the environment team.  

Requirements

Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability, or a related discipline (Master's degree preferred)

Chartered status or Corporate Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA, CIEEM, or equivalent)

10+ years of post-graduate experience in environmental consultancy, specifically in delivery of EIARs for major energy, grid, or infrastructure projects

In-depth knowledge of Irish and EU environmental legislation, consenting frameworks, and statutory planning processes

Proven track record in team leadership, project management, financial management, and bid preparation

Excellent stakeholder management, technical writing, and communication skills
