Principal Electrical Critical Systems Design Engineer - Data Centres - Dublin

Our client is an international multi-disciplinary consultancy operating from over 20 locations across the globe.

Due to increased workload, they are seeking to appoint a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to take up a principal role with Dublin team

As part of our established team of expert engineers, and working closely with colleagues of various disciplines, you will prepare both scheme and detailed engineering designs for electrical systems (MV, LV, essential power / back-up power, electrical building services including life safety services, etc) for major data centre and other critical systems projects.

The role will involve working mostly on data centre projects ranging from plant upgrades through to 100MW+ hyperscale projects. 

Manage engineering designs in line with client brief and/or other project requirements

Review and provide feedback on designs produced by more junior staff

Monitor resourcing requirements for projects and provide feedback to Associates / Partners

Under the guidance of a more experienced manager, contribute to the day-to-day management and control of projects (including commercial and financial management, project management, and compliance with QA, environmental and health and safety procedures)

Provide training and coaching to more junior staff, including acting as a mentor to support those pursuing membership of professional institutions

Attend internal and/or external marketing and business development events as appropriate

Contribute to the preparation of submissions and fee bids

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients

Contribute to Practice-wide technical initiatives (such as the development of technical standards, software development, knowledge sharing etc)

Requirements

Degree level (minimum level 8) in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (MEng or BEng or equivalent)

Chartered Engineer desired, if not currently, you will be supported towards Chartership.

Proven track record in the concept design and delivery of multiple largescale critical infrastructure projects, preferably in a data centre / critical systems and /or other mission critical context

Proven experience of detailed coordination with other design disciplines, well-versed in theory behind and use of relevant design software including Amtech, ETAPS or SKM power systems analysis software.

Proven ability in producing schematic diagrams, fault and discrimination studies, preparing specifications and project reports, carrying out site inspections and surveys, and detail design development, and crucially - you have a passion for accurate design of electrical systems.

Package

Salary €80k - €90k based experience, negotiable for the right candidates.
