Our client is a leading civil engineering contractor delivering major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Ireland.

The Project Director is required to provide executive leadership and operational control across major water, wastewater, treatment plant, and pipeline capital projects.

They will hold overall strategic, commercial, and operational accountability for project delivery, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budgetary targets are met or exceeded.

Liaise with key stakeholders including Uisce Éireann (Irish Water), local authorities, joint venture partners, and consulting engineers on high-level contractual and strategic matters.

Lead and direct multi-disciplinary project management teams, site staff, and commercial managers, fostering a strong culture of safety performance, innovation, and technical excellence.

Oversee contract management (NEC, FIDIC, IE conditions of contract), dispute resolution, and commercial risk mitigation strategies across the water division portfolio.

Ensure robust project controls, financial forecasting, CVR performance, and cash flow management are maintained across all operational sites.

Drive continuous business growth, participate in major tender presentations, and support strategic bid development for large-scale water infrastructure frameworks.

Requirements

Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline (Level 8 / 9)

10+ years of post-graduate experience within civil engineering contracting, with significant experience leading water and wastewater infrastructure projects

Proven track record as a Project Director, Operations Manager, or Contracts Manager on major capital projects (€20m+)

In-depth knowledge of water/wastewater process engineering, mechanical/electrical interface, pipeline construction, and civil works

Strong commercial acumen and expert knowledge of major civil engineering contracts (NEC / IE Public Works Contracts)

Chartered status with Engineers Ireland (CEng MIEI) or ICE is highly desirable
