Resident Engineer - Transportation Projects - Sligo / Donegal

Project Location: Sligo / Donegal, Ireland

Employment Type: Contract (12 Month Rolling Contract)

Work Location: On-site

Pay: Rate €45 - €55 per hour

Experience: 5+ years' experience in site supervision & civil/transport infrastructure

Visa: EU passport or Stamp 4 visa required

Our client is a global engineering and technical professional services firm delivering major transport, active travel, and public infrastructure projects across Ireland.

The Resident Engineer is required to supervise construction activities for regional bus priority, transport scheme, and bus infrastructure upgrade projects across Sligo and Donegal.

They will ensure all works are executed in strict accordance with contract drawings, specifications, quality requirements, and relevant national transport standards (NTA / TII).

Perform daily site inspections, monitor contractor progress, review method statements, and maintain comprehensive site diaries and inspection records.

Manage technical queries (RFIs), inspect materials, verify quality compliance, and ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.

Liaise directly with local authorities, transport authorities, utility providers, landowners, and the central project management team.

Assist with quantity measurements, review contractor interim payment applications, perform BCAR compliance checks, and compile snag lists leading to project commissioning and handover.

Requirements

Degree in Civil Engineering (Level 8 NFQ or equivalent)

5+ years of post-graduate experience in civil engineering, with proven experience as a Resident Engineer or Assistant Resident Engineer on transport, bus, road, or civil infrastructure projects

Strong knowledge of Irish Public Works Contracts, NTA/TII design standards, and site supervision procedures

Chartered Engineer status (CEng MIEI) or actively working towards chartership preferred

Full clean driving licence and own transport to travel across project sites in Sligo and Donegal

Excellent communication, site documentation, and stakeholder coordination skills

Package

Hourly rate €45 - €55 per hour 

12-month contract duration with strong potential for extension

Travel and mileage allowance where applicable

Laptop and IT equipment provided
