Our client is one of Ireland's premier civil engineering and utilities infrastructure contractors, delivering major capital works across power, telecommunications, water, gas, and heavy civils nationwide.

The Senior Civils Estimator is required to join their Pre-Construction team in Galway, leading the preparation, pricing, and submission of competitive tenders for complex utility and civil engineering projects.

Based in Galway, they will manage tenders from initial enquiry to final award, collaborating with engineering, commercial, and operational teams to build robust pricing models, evaluate risks, and support value engineering.

Lead the preparation, first-principles pricing, and submission of high-quality competitive tenders for civil engineering and utility infrastructure projects

Manage assigned tenders through the full pre-construction lifecycle, reviewing specifications, drawings, contract conditions, and employer requirements

Source, analyze, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to secure optimum commercial pricing

Develop detailed cost models, labor output assumptions, equipment allowances, and tender execution strategies

Collaborate with Design, Operational, and Commercial teams to produce winning bid solutions, methodologies, and preliminary tender programs

Identify, evaluate, and mitigate commercial/technical risks while identifying value engineering opportunities

Support post-tender client presentations, clarification meetings, and commercial negotiations

Provide comprehensive tender handover packages to site project delivery teams upon project award

Mentor, guide, and support junior estimators and members of the wider pre-construction team

Requirements

Degree (Level 8) in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related technical discipline

8-10+ years' post-graduate estimating experience within the civil engineering, utilities, or heavy infrastructure sectors

Proven experience pricing utility, power, telecommunications, water, gas, or heavy civils projects

In-depth understanding of Irish construction contracts (Public Works, Irish Water Frameworks, CWMF, NEC) and Irish procurement processes

Proficient in estimating software systems, quantity take-off software, and Microsoft Excel

Exceptional commercial acumen, analytical capability, and organizational skills to manage multiple tender deadlines concurrently
