Senior Electrical Design Engineer - Consultancy - Dublin West

Our Client are an Irish engineering design consultancy, that specializes in Mechanical, Electrical and Process engineering on both large and small industrial projects in the power generation, data centre, industrial and food & beverage industries in both Ireland and Europe.

Description

Work directly with clients and project engineers to define project requirements and develop

technical solutions. 

Act as either electrical lead or project lead on projects coordinating all elements of design and interaction with clients and other design team members

Represent at senior level in client discussions, tender negotiations and workshops

Manage a team of engineers and ensure deliverables are achieved on time and to the required quality

Development of specifications, scope of works documents, tender packs, cable calcs, wiring diagrams, schematics, loop sheets and other electrical deliverables

MV & LV electrical design, including MCCs, distribution boards, cable systems utilising SKM and Amtech software packages

Participate in constructability and safety reviews.

Participate in project site visits to survey, monitor, review and sign-off upon electrical installations when required.

Design electrical services packages in AutoCAD & Revit where applicable

Attend and participate in client and APM team meetings

Ensure that department / individual training needs are met.

Requirements

Third Level Degree in Electrical Engineering required with Chartership preferred

10+ years of formal experience in industrial engineering design and delivery

Expert knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM/Revit

Familiarity with SKM (PTW) and Trimble / Amtech electrical design software preferable.

Proficiency in MS Word and Excel

Knowledge & experience of CIBSE and Ashrae Design Guides, Building Regs, EN Standards

and IEC Standards. 

Proven experience in electrical engineering design services, particularly in MV and LV power distribution, generators, UPS systems, lightning protection, earthing & bonding, and control

system networking

Knowledge and experience of applicable electrical engineering codes and standards.

Experience of developing electrical protection systems, electrical discrimination, short circuit studies and arc-flash analysis reports.

The ability to find alternate solutions including value-engineering and to implement new technologies where required.

Organised, structured and disciplined approach to achieve project deliverables.
