Senior Electrical Design Engineer - MEP Consultancy - Dublin

Our Client are an Irish engineering design consultancy, that specializes in Mechanical, Electrical and Process engineering. 

Their market focus areas are Industrial projects in the food and beverages, pharmaceuticals, data centers and energy sustainability and optimization.

Job Description

Work as part of a multidiscipline team on both large and small industrial projects

Under the direction of the principle electrical engineer, design electrical services packages in AutoCAD & Revit where applicable

Development of specifications, scope of works documents, tender packs, cable calcs, wiring diagrams, schematics, loop sheets and other electrical deliverables

MV & LV electrical design, including MCCs, distribution boards, cable systems, lighting & emergency lighting etc.

Participate in constructability and safety reviews.

Design of Life Safety Systems including Fire Alarm and security

Attend and participate in client and APM team meetings

Participate in project site visits to survey, monitor, review and sign-off upon electrical installations when required.

Requirements

Third Level Degree in Electrical Engineering / Building Services

5+ years of formal experience in industrial engineering design. Data centre experience preferable but not essential

Proven experience in electrical engineering design services. 

Experience required in MV and LV power distribution, generators, UPS systems, lighting & emergency lighting, vertical transportation, small power, voice / data, cable containment, fire alarm, security, lightning protection, earthing & bonding, hazardous areas and specialist control systems

Knowledge of developing electrical protection systems, electrical discrimination, short circuit studies and arc-flash analysis reports.

Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and BIM/Revit

Familiarity with Trimble (Amtech) and/or SKM (PTW) electrical design software would be ideal 

Proficiency in MS Word and Excel  

Knowledge and experience of applicable electrical engineering codes and standards.

Understanding of electrical protection systems, electrical discrimination, short circuit studies etc.

Native written and spoken English proficiency is essential
