Senior Engineer - Civil Contractor - Cork

Our client is a leading European main contractor delivering vital infrastructure and high-quality building projects across Ireland.

The Civil Senior Engineer will lead site engineering activities and provide technical guidance to site engineers, graduate engineers, and supervisors on a motorway project in Cork

Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents.

Ensure all setting-out works are completed accurately and in accordance with design requirements.

Coordinate design information and resolve technical queries with consultants and designers.

Oversee temporary works requirements and ensure appropriate approvals are in place.

Monitor construction methodologies and propose improvements for efficiency and productivity.

Assist the Site Agent / Project Manager in the planning and delivery of construction works.

Coordinate subcontractors and site teams to achieve programme milestones, monitoring daily progress against project schedules.

Identify and mitigate construction risks and technical challenges, ensuring materials and resources are available to maintain planned progress.

Promote a strong safety culture across the site, conduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments.

Assist in the preparation and review of Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS).

Ensure environmental controls and sustainability requirements are implemented.

Ensure inspection and test plans (ITPs) are followed, monitor workmanship standards, and rectify quality issues promptly.

Maintain accurate site records, test results, and quality documentation to support project handover and commissioning activities.

Assist in the measurement and valuation of completed works and provide technical input for variations and change management.

Support commercial teams with progress reporting and claims preparation while monitoring resource utilisation to identify cost savings.

Requirements

Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related discipline.

Minimum 5-8 years' experience in civil engineering or construction projects.

Strong knowledge of Irish construction regulations and industry standards.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Total Stations, GPS surveying equipment, and Microsoft Office.

Full driving licence.

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership with Engineers Ireland is highly desirable.

Valid Safe Pass, Manual Handling, First Aid certification, and Temporary Works Coordinator training are advantageous.
