Senior Estimator - Main Contractor - Nationwide

Our client is a leading Irish building contractor working on a broad range of buildings projects in the healthcare, education, industry, construction and leisure industries.

They are seeking to appoint Senior Estimators to work on projects in Dublin, Limerick & Galway.

The Senior Estimator is required to lead the pre-construction pricing process, securing profitable work through accurate tender preparation, effective risk assessment, and commercial strategy.

They will manage the full tendering process from enquiry to submission while mentoring junior estimating staff and collaborating with key project stakeholders.

Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates and tender submissions across commercial, residential, healthcare, and education sectors

Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation to assemble accurate cost plans and bills of quantities

Manage the end-to-end tendering lifecycle from initial enquiry through to final bid submission

Identify project risks, scope gaps, and value engineering opportunities, incorporating mitigation strategies into tender pricing

Source, analyse, and evaluate competitive subcontractor and supplier quotations

Liaise with clients, consultants, sub-contractors, and internal teams to clarify project scope and requirements

Present detailed tender reviews, risk registers, and commercial recommendations to senior management

Maintain and update internal cost databases, historical benchmark rates, and market pricing trends

Mentor, support, and assist in the development of junior estimating staff

Attend pre- and post-tender meetings, client presentations, and contract negotiations

Requirements

Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline

5 - 10 years’ experience in an estimating role within main contracting

Strong knowledge of the Irish construction market, including local supplier and sub-contractor networks

Proven track record in successfully securing competitive tenders across varied building sectors

In-depth understanding of Irish construction methods, materials, and building regulations

Proficiency in MS Office and estimating software tools

Excellent commercial acumen, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills
