Our client is a specialist building services and mechanical design consultancy based in Dublin.

Job Description

Lead the detailed mechanical building services design for major commercial, industrial, healthcare, and residential developments.

Develop concept through to detailed design specifications, load calculations, ductwork/pipework sizing, and air distribution layouts.

Utilize digital design tools and BIM workflows (Revit MEP) to produce high-quality, fully coordinated engineering models and drawings.

Coordinate seamlessly across internal electrical, public health, and digital building services disciplines, as well as external architectural and structural teams.

Act as the key technical liaison for clients, project managers, and contractors, attending design team and client progress meetings.

Perform dynamic thermal simulation, energy modeling, and HVAC system selection in line with current Irish Building Regulations (Part L) and sustainability standards.

Oversee site inspections, monitor installation quality against design specifications, and participate in commissioning reviews.

Mentor and guide intermediate and junior mechanical design engineers within the practice.

Requirements

Degree (Level 8 or 9) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent discipline.

8 years’ professional experience in mechanical building services design.

Healthcare experience desirable

Chartered Engineer status (CEng / Engineers Ireland or CIBSE) or actively working towards chartership.

Deep technical knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water plant, heat pumps, ventilation standards, and digital building systems.

Proficiency with industry software including Revit MEP, AutoCAD, IES-VE, and HVAC calculation packages.

Excellent communication, report writing, client-facing, and project management capabilities.
